Contest Entry-2nd place

Entered this in the contest along with Grace and I got them back today. I also got a second place for this entry as well. This is a great piece. I am glad that it is back, I have a lasting memory of Lisa, the designer.
Got home today and found out that my grandson, 2yrs old, is sick and has lost 5 pounds in the last week. Has slowed him down some but he is still bright and cheerfully. Glad to be HOME!!!

Tribute to Lisa Roswell

 I am so sorry to hear that Lisa Roswell the designer of this piece was tragically killed this past Monday. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends.

I recently finished this piece. It was a great pleasure to stitch. 1 over 1 on 28ct evenweave.

I recharted the colors to DMC so it is a bit brighter that charted. It is also much smaller than charted, it is in a 5x7 frame.

I almost forgot to do this for my Uncle's wedding. Shame on me!! It is small, only 4x6 and will fit in an 8x10 frame with a 5x7 mat. Now to get a couple of other things done and pack for the wedding. My aunt from Australia is coming and I haven't seen her in about 10 years. Need to get a couple of bookmarks done as gifts. Well, on to the rest of the story........

New Start

This is going to be my new start. I can't wait. I also want a couple other of Tam's Creations. This is going to be FUN!!!

It's DONE!!!  The pic isn't very good. I don't have the greatest lighting. I will publish more detailed pics later. Tomorrow I am traveling 200 miles to deliver them to the contest. I had a great time designing and stitching this piece.

Edited 3-3-2011  I have found out that I placed 2nd in the original design category. I am going to go on to the regional art show, to be held in April.

Today's update. I am almost finished. Next comes the ribbon. More tomorrow.

Well, I missed a day. I have come down with a duzzy of a cold. Having trouble thinking straight. I have made some changes along the way. I need to be finished by Tuesday Night. I have to deliver it Wednesday. Wish me luck.

I want to send my prayers to all those in harms way in Australia. I think about you and hope you are all safe and sound.

This is the progress today. I am not really happy with the purple heart. I used lattice work. Maybe it will grow on me. I can always change it later.

Markup done. Now to start stitching. I have decided to use diagonal faggoting, cross stitch, trellis, 3cross xstitch, black work, griffin stitch, eyelets and maybe more. More tomorrow.

New Project

This is a new piece for the VA Craft show that I have started. I needed one that was my own design. I am outlining the sections and then will fill in. I am using a variety of stitches. Will publish as I go. More tomorrow.

This is the finish of a Drawn Thread Freebie--All You Need is Love. Has a bunch of specialty stitches in it and is only 3.5 by 2 inches. I put it in a 5x7 inch frame. Came out really cute.

Contest Entry

This is the entry for a Veteran's art show that our state is having. I am at this point 1/2 done. The needle shows the scale. 28ct evenweave 1 over 1 using DMC. The pattern is Simply Live by The Primative Needle. Called for Valdani Threads but I don't use those so I converted to DMC. The colors are a little bright, if I do it again I will use more subdued threads. The finished size will be 3.5 by 6 inches.

Contest Entry for Nicky's Creations. Her pattern. I stitched in on 28ct 1 over 1. Finished into a pin cushion and filled it with crushed walnut shells. Turned out really cute I think.

Needed something to keep the items on my bedside table organized. Had this really great couple of pieces of material in my stash. Now I know where my glasses are and a flashlight if I need it. The remote is in the bigger pockets.  AS YOU CAN SEE, I LOOOVE PURPLE!!!

This is the ornament that I sent to Laura in Spain. She has received it now and I can show it to you. The top pic is the front, 1 over 1 on 28ct evenweave. The design is from Russia, Aliola, called the Galloping Deer. The bottom pic is the back. I personalized it with our initials and the year. Edited 11-29-10.

Signed up for quilting class!!

I am going to take a class for a pieced welcome sign, with a western theme. I needed a present for my DIL and it is perfect. Really looking forward to it. It is on Dec 11, all day. Now to get the supplies together.

Received this lovely item from Ohlala Broderie, Potel. Doesn't she do just perfect work. I am very happy with this exchange. You can't see it but the fabric is iridescent. This is the second of 4 exchanges that I am involved in this fall. I have sent out 2 and am working on the 3rd and 4th. I am waiting for my 1st partner to post pics so that I can put them on my blog. I still don't have a computer to put data on. The 1st was a beeswax bear with iridescent coloring on the front. Happy Fall !!!!!!

COMPUTER CRASH !!!!

OMG, MY COMPUTER DIED!!!

I am borrowing a computer to get email and to try and keep up with my blog reader. I am not going to be posting any pics for a while. I am involved in 4 exchanges and have to get them done. I lost most of my patterns and my Gift Of Stitching Digital magazine copies. A friend is going to dump my hard drive but that won't be for a couple of weeks. Seems the mother board on my 10 year old computer decided to have a nervous break down. I am left with the Christmas patterns I have already printed off and some books of patterns that I have from years ago. Hope my partners aren't too picky. More later, gotta go.

This is a wedding banner I designed for my brother. The first pic shows the whole thing including the fringe. The second is a close-up, the third shows the beading on the top conch.

My brother is big into Native American things. I used a border from a pattern I got online. The bear is from a book of Native American charts.

A Great Cause!!!! A Quilt For Sue!!!

Wild Ride!!!

This past month has been really hectic. Youngest son is still off work and has now lost his job due to this accident. Lost his housing as well. Lawyers working on the problems but nothing good yet. I did have a really great surprise though. I won a giveaway on Ornaments. Orna Willis the designer made a needle case and I won it. It is made of Suede and has a piece of original Orna Willis canvas work on the front.
